This free workshop is part of the Foothill Fitness/Fit After 50 Program sponsored by the Amador Senior Center. Started in 2005, Foothill Fitness program began in 2004 and has seven sites around Amador County. The program focuses on balance, strengthening and flexibility, qualities essential to remaining independent when living at home. The classes are run by trained volunteers and supervised by Jan Migliaccio, a local physical therapist who has taken special training in order to oversee the safety and effectiveness of the program. The program, which lasts an hour, includes a variety of exercises and strength training with therabands.
Local physicians, chiropractors, physical therapists and local trainers refer people to these classes for pre- and post-joint replacement strengthening. The classes are also a warm and friendly way to socialize!
