AMADOR COUNTY COMMISSION ON AGING MEETING POSTPONED - Due to various circumstances surrounding the Butte Fire and the large number of people affected by it, we are postponing the Commission meeting from the 16th to the 30th. i will contact Debbie Shally today and see if she or someone else from HICAP can come and explain the Part D updates on the 30th. Otherwise we will send out a summary of the basic changes.
If you have questions about any activities at the Center and whether they are canceled, please call 223-0452.
Our thoughts are with everyone whose lives are being disrupted by this event. It is heartwarming to see how the community, both businesses and organizations, have given so generously of time and money. Please call the Senior Center if you know of any seniors in Amador who are in need of additional assistance. Common Ground is having to focus a lot of time and energy on the Calaveras seniors who are their clients in the home delivered meals program, as well as cooperate with the Red Cross down there to care for evacuees but lunches will be served as usual this week and they will be working to get the home delivered meals out to the regular clients as much as possible.
Major kudos to the churches and the Jackson Rancheria for their support of the Red Cross services to the evacuees.
We are also very grateful to KVGC for their intense and accurate coverage of the situation.
